How We Began

AMREP Supplier Management Services , first known as AMREP Vendor Inspection Services, was an unexpected creation of the IBM International Procurement Office when it engaged us in 1983 to manage their suppliers in Singapore. We were responsible for ensuring their supplier’s product quality and implementing continuous process improvement. We were the first and only company to begin supplier source inspection work on IBM’s Asian suppliers.

In 1986 AMREP created the AMREP Quality Management Centre (AQMC) and worked with Dr. Joseph Juran and the Juran Institute to introduce Dr. Juran’s concepts on Total Quality Management and quality control through Asia. Dr. Juran was and still remains one of the greatest minds on quality management. AMREP went on to train Asian suppliers for many OEMs, e.g. Texas Instruments, Shell, Esso, on the use of Quality Improvement Teams, Quality Analysis and Quality Planning.

In doing so, AMREP became the first company in Asia to provide independent third party quality assurance and Total Quality Management expertise that went beyond the 'inspection, testing, and certification' model. Its founder is Derrick Goh who was briefly the Asian Business Vice President for Intertek USA.

Our Global Expansion

By 1984, AMREP Supplier Management Services had offices in South-East Asia (Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, and the USA. In 1990 AMREP started ISO 9000 training, ISO auditor certifications, and trained Asian suppliers on ISO QMS and Total Quality Management implementation. We seeded international best practices in quality management and to provide localised quality control services for companies sourcing from that region.

In 1994, we established AMREP Mexico to service US companies who were ‘nearshoring’ their manufacturing operations to Mexico. We also broadened our services to provide comprehensive supplier quality management programs for companies with global supply chains. Our programs would address risk management, problem resolution and prevention, design engineering, supplier development, and production process improvements.

In 1998, we created AMREP China where our clients regard many of our engineers as critical assets of their overseas procurement and supplier management programs.

Today AMREP Supplier Management Services operates a global operations network and has a multinational mix of over 300 employees located in different countries who specialise in Supplier Source Inspection, Quality Management, Supplier Quality Engineering, Procurement Engineering, Production Optimisation and Supplier Development.

AMREP has a low employee turnover. AMREP is operated on an employee-ownership inducement policy.
